The central motif on this bag is based on Minoan and Greek examples of octopods, dating from roughly 1000 BCE to 500 BCE. I'm on an octopod kick at the moment and had this piece of flaming orange wool haning around that I wanted to do something with.
This is currently in progress - the central applique needs to be finished and then it'll be on to the construction and the addition of the bead discs, one on the end of each tentacle.
Made from fulled wool and embroidered with cotton perl, the bag will probably get lined with linen.
