I am affectionately known, in the SCA, as Laurellen de Brandevin. I am a Countess of An Tir, a Viscountess of Artemisia, a member of the Order of the Laurel, and a Court Baroness of An Tir. I hold Kingdom level, Principality level and Baronial level A&S and Service awards from Atenveldt, Artemisa, and An Tir. As of September 2012, I am on vigil for elevation to the Order of the Pelican, An Tir.
My first passion is Elizabethan clothing but I'll make and wear almost anything at least once. I live in the beautiful Barony of Dragons Laire, which is located on the Kitsap penninsula of Northwestern Washington State. I have a husband who good naturedly puts up with my frenetic bursts of creation and will listen to my grandiose plans without rolling his eyes even once. He will also cheerfully wear almost anything I make for him. I have a son who shows an early propensity, at the age of fifteen, of being an awesome Knight and extremely picky Laurel when he grows up. He also has very strong opinions about what he will and will not wear which makes for some fine arguments between us at times.
I have one cat, a ttuxedo kitty who is my studio mascot and refuses to eat her food unless I have first spread it on the floor and touched it.
I have run, for the past sixteen years, a website called The Renaissance Tailor. I also have a business attached to that website. I teach and lecture around my home Kingdom and anywhere else I'm invited.
Mundanely, I am an award winning web designer, fine and graphic artist, and artist-at-large. Currently I am running my business full-time and doing freelance work on the side.
