The central motif on this bag is based on an Uzbeki design from out of period but it's a pretty design and it really caught my eye. There's a great deal of Russian influence on this design; normally, I prefer the hooked sun disks and other tribal motifs.
I haven't done an embroidered bag for quite awhile so I am 'getting back to my roots', so to speak, with this project. This is currently in progress - the central applique is finished but the border needs to be wrapped and then the whole thing needs to be flat-lined and edge bound and then I need to make the beded fringe.
Made from fulled wool and embroidered with cotton perl, the bag will probably get lined with silk and bound with silk. The fringe will be made from cotton perl and large glass beads.
