An Experiment in Wrapping

An Experiment in Wrapping

This is a satchel-style bag, roughly eight inches in width, that used up some scraps from previous projects and on which I experimented futher with the wrapping technique.

Wrapping is done by first embroidering the ground and then going back and wrapping the embroidered stitches. It gives a nice, heavy effect to the embroidery which I like very much.

I also deviated from my normal procedure by using a different tacking stitch on the central disc; usually I try to hide that under embroidery but this time, I made it part of the overall motif.

Embroidery is carried out in perl cotton and on fulled wool. The central motif is a circle of yellow wool with a quatrafoil of green wool applied on top of it.
