One of my friends is a Scythian era archer. He handed me this shirt one day and asked me to come up with some 'bling' for it; embroidery or beads or whatever. He didn't care and gave me complete artistic license.
So I bound the edges with the lovely spring green silk ribbon that can be seen in the photo. After that, I embroidered spirals along the neckline and the cuffs. Then, to finish it off, I attached pretty brown beads to each spiral center.
The shirt is 100% linen and presented a real challenge to the embroidery as I like to hide my 'tails' so I ended up hiding everything in previously embroidered lines. There are no knots on this until one gets to the beads. The binding helped pull the green onto the shirt as the shirt color is a much brighter blue than I usually work with.
Embroidery is carried out in cotton perl on linen and embellished with glass beads.
