The central motif on this bag is based on a Norse cast brooch from the 12th century. Originally, this bag was to be a gift to a Norse personal person but after the central motif was completed, I quickly realized that I didn't like how it was going. So I switched to another project and let this one sit.
After a few months, I came back to it and put in the acanthus leaves (also from a Norse design) but, as you may have already noticed, it was really not looking all that Norse. In fact, it was looking very Renaissance..
Undaunted, I continued to work towards a Norse theme but the bag never seemed to come together for that. Instead, it continues to have a very Renaissance flavor.
Made from fulled wool, cotton perl, and embellished with semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, metal beads, and nickel wire.
