The embroidery on this tunic is not readily apparent - the neckline hasn't been finished and the only embroidery is on the cuffs and the side seams. It's a very basic couching of wool yarn into the 'ditch' of the seams and as embellishment beside the cardweaving on the cuffs.
I like this tunic in that it shows that even very basic embroidery can have a big impact on an item. Not all embroidery needs to be big, obvious, or complicated.
Additionally, this tunic shows cardweaving with perl cotton, which I have begun to get back into lately. This is a pattern taken from an Anglo-Saxon grave which was twill rather than in-thread. However, the diagonals are very interesting and I plan to learn twill later this year.
Wool yarn couched with perl cotton onto wool tunic. Tunic is faced and bound with silk.
