Christmas Birds

Merry Christmas!

I have so many, many wool scraps that I just can't seem to part with but are far too small to do anything really useful. Until I put together a pattern for birds! This does me a number of favors; it uses up my scraps, it provides me with small presents to give for Christmas, and it gives me tiny things to embroider that don't take more than about an hour or two.

The bird on the left, however, is rather special in that he is made with cast off hat wool that a friend gave me. This wool was not nearly as soft as the fulled garment wool that I usually use so it was hard to sew through but a dream to embroidery on.

Birds are made from fulled wool and stuffed with polyester batting. Embroidery is carried out in per cotton and eyes are garnet beads.
